Dr. Jimi Tjong is a retired Technical Leader and Manager of the Ford Powertrain Engineering, Research & Development Centre. With over 38 years working experience in advance manufacturing and championed high performance mobility systems design engineering and, full scale validation by conceptualizing and leading Canada’s first state-of-art  PowertrainDevelopment and Training Centre. The Centre is currently the hub for Engineering, Research and Development that involved Canadian Universities, Government Laboratories, and Canadian automotive parts and equipment suppliers. The Centre includes 16 research and development test cells, a prototype machine shop, PHEV, HEV and BEV development testing which occupies an area of 200,000 sq ft.

The Centre provides full scale service to a global manufacturing team with Production/Design Validation of engines manufactured in North America and an overflow for the Ford worldwide facilities. It also establishes a close link worldwide within Ford Research and Innovation Centre, Product Development and Manufacturing Operations that can help bridge the gap between laboratory research and the successful commercialization and integration of promising new technologies into the product development cycle.

After his retirement Dr. Tjong founded a engineering service firm, Singa International and is currently the president and chief executive officer. Singa International Inc. is   a result-oriented organization capable of providing services ranging from the definition of the problem to the actual design, testing, verification and finally the implementation of solutions or measures. He also provides expert consulting and advice to global energy, defence and mobility-system design and development sectors. He received a number of global and national industry leadership awards.
